Constantine Is Finally Coming To 4K Blu-Ray With A New Steelbook Edition
Preorders are available now, just in time for the cult-classic film's 20th anniversary.
While it'll be a while before a sequel to 2005's Constantine sees the light of day--or escapes development hell--you can at least revisit the cult-classic film thanks to the upcoming Constantine 4K Steelbook edition. There is no set release date yet, but you can preorder it at Amazon for $40.
Constantine 4K Steelbook Edition
$40

This new release marks the first time Constantine has been available on 4K Blu-ray. While no special features or bonus content has been announced, we at least know it's coming in a special steelbook case featuring interior art from one of the most striking apocalyptic scenes in the movie. More details about the release will likely be announced soon, including a release date. For now, fans can preorder the Constantine 4K Steelbook Edition for $40 at Amazon, which locks you in for Amazon's preorder price guarantee--meaning if the price changes in the time between when you preorder and its release, you'll only pay the lowest price for the 4K Blu-ray, and won't be charged until your order ships.
If you haven't seen the movie yet, Constantine is based on the DC comic series Hellblazer, and stars Keanu Reeves as the titular chain-smoking demon-hunter. After getting involved with an investigator exploring the death of her twin sister, Constantine finds himself caught between the forces of Heaven and Hell. It made some major changes to the source material, but overall, it remains faithful to the spirit of the comics.
The movie wasn't well-received when it was first released two decades ago, but since then, the years have been much kinder to this Hellblazer adaptation and a sequel starring Reeves has been in the works for years. However, recent updates indicate the script still isn't finished, so it's likely the film won't hit theaters for a while.
In the meantime, if you're curious about the character's origins, you can also pick up the John Constantine, Hellblazer Omnibus 1 for $92.84 (was $150). This massive volume collects dozens of Hellblazer story arcs, one-off issues, crossovers with other DC characters like Swamp Thing and Sandman, and behind-the-scenes materials like scripts and more.
In the years since the movie, Constantine has also appeared in other DC universe projects, including his own TV Series starring Matt Ryan as the occult investigator. It only ran for a single 13-episode season but is well-regarded as a faithful adaptation of the character, making it another great way to learn more about the Hellblazer mythos. You can grab Constantine: The Complete Series on Blu-ray for just $18.87 at Amazon.
Ryan's performance as Constantine was so popular that he even voiced the character in the animated Hellblazer films Constantine: The House of Mystery and Constantine: City of Demons, and appeared as a supporting character in other animated DC universe films like Justice League Dark, Apokalips War, and Crisis on Infinite Earths Part One and Part Two. You can grab all these movies on Blu-ray at Amazon.
