What game franchises do you miss?

First one that comes to me is the Persona franchise. Persona 5 came out in 2017. Crazy how long it’s been. I hope the next one is more like Persona 4 Golden, which was more light hearted and had a great cast of characters. Another franchise I miss is Uncharted. Would like to see Nathan’s daughter take the helm! And last, where’s the next Devil May Cry? Games are taking forever to come out these days. How about you, SW? What game franchises do you miss?

None of them. Because I remember that they would mess up the sequels to every single one of them. Far too much cowardice in the industry. There's no fixing the interests of investors and CEOs who know nothing about games.

Definitely motorstorm I thought Pacific rift was incredible.

You could just port that game over to modern hardware and everyone would have a great time. What a game!

I feel like LBP is dead lol. They tried Dreams, and then they tried LBP as a platformer. But at least we have Astro Bot! As for Ninja Gaiden, aren’t you getting a new one this year?!

@SolidGame_basic: Oh it's most certainly dead. Media Molecule hasn't worked on anything LBP related since 2012 with the Muppets expansion. Dreams was a long investment that is great concept on paper but had zero charm or personality. Was also just not very user-friendly.

Suppose I should have noted '3D' Ninja Gaiden. The upcoming one is a call back to the very first 8-bit graphic games.

Yea, creating a new IM was risky, I hope they’ll be given a second chance. Would love if they did an LBP 4.

@SolidGame_basic: I actually really like Tearaway, it's a fantastic game. Media Molecule can make amazing games outside LBP. Just don't do Dreams again..

Someone mentioned "god games" the other day in a different thread and, yeah, I kind of miss that genre as a whole. Also Dungeon Keeper-type games which are also kind of like god games. We don't get enough games in these genres. Dungeons is a fun franchise, and War for the Overworld was pretty great.

Specifically Black and White, really loved the whole pet mechanic, even if it wasn't implemented all that well. Was fun raising a benevolent golden lion or a twisted and evil wolf.

And now we have to wait 'til March! PHOOEY!

Do you like 3D Platformers?

Well Tearaway will scratch that itch with many interesting features in on itself. Can be beaten in a weekend as well so if you're looking for a shorter game, Tearaway won't eat up all your time. It's just a joyful game with a ton of creativity.

War for the Overworld has had so many updates over the years and is excellent to play today. My opinion is woefully bias though as a WftO backer and big Dungeon Keeper fanboi.

Wrote a review for the game a long time ago but it's honestly still on point. The negatives to tldr is WftO has more RTS vibes than God Sim due to how the banner system works which always takes priority over your minions regardless how they react. That cannot refuse banners in WftO; unlike Dungeon Keeper which gave creatures some sort of freedom to reject orders.

A modern Banjo-Kazooie would be awesome, but it'd have to be the right developer.

I was going to say Tony Hawks as well, but I'd settle for remakes of THPS 3 & 4 (apparently these were in the works after the success of the 1 & 2 remakes, but got cancelled for some dumb reason).

I also enjoyed the Sly Cooper games, would be cool to see a new game (not that I own a PS but would still be good to see).

Tearaway is cool. That was the old Sony that let developers make unique games lol. It is very short, I think 5 hours.

Def Jam had potential for what they did with their 6th gen games like Vendetta and Fight For New York, but its 7th gen iteration was bafflingly bad, and pretty much caused EA to kill any future considerations for a new game. It was better when it was an over the top hip-hop wrestling game, with some heavy Pit Fighter vibes.

If this ever got released as a BC game, or even got a remaster, I'd pick it up in a heartbeat.

Makes me a little gloomy to think that I've been waiting for new releases of these games for as long as Persona 6, haha.

Parasite Eve. Classic Tomb Raider. Final Fantasy the way it was in ps1 days. Same with Silent Hill (though the sh2 remake is awesome).
