Game Pass best deal on the planet with all the best games that MS is pumping out in droves. Play all PC games and Steam storefronts and even PS games that are released on PC will be playable on Xbox and Xbox apps on basically any android device.

This will really come down to having the ability to have the most powerful game console and handheld as well as doing it for the cheapest cost with it's software via Game Pass and PC storefronts.

Sony can't compete with this they can't come close to adopting this strategy becuase Sony is heavily reliant on hardware sales and software sales and Sony can't endure going full subscription app like MS they just can't they don't have the financial capital to fully compete in that space and be successful.

And don't say bu bu bu all MS games will come to PS even if they do Cows would be paying full price for these games meanwhile Xboxer's will be paying a fraction of that and getting super good subscription deals. What are Cows financially stupid or what?

All Sony games are going to start going multiplat as well but the big difference is here that on Xbox and Xbox app you'll be able to play most of these games at a fraction of the cost then you can on PS. Are Cows stupid or what if they don't realize this.

I dunno, PS5 still doing well despite Sony being pretty absent this generation with their first party games, which they've put more effort into porting older games onto PC, and re-releasing old games on PS5.

It would be in a Sony fanboys better interest to get an Xbox just to send Sony a message their support isn't unconditional and they gotta try harder, but instead they've told Sony through their complacency that their support will remain unconditional.

Sony is absent and not pumping out tons of first party games becuase they can't afford to anymore and that's why Sony is trying to releases older games and remasters and adopt more of a model to pay to play looter shooters like Helldivers.

The gaming world has been conditioned to believe that regardless of whatever Microsoft does, and no matter what Sony doesn't do, the gaming world would rather exhaustively beg for Xbox games to come to PlayStation, but saying if they want to play them so much then maybe they should get an Xbox, or why not just get Game Pass on PC... well, gamers have made their voices heard:

I think Microsoft should advertise this more. Maybe not enough people know about it.

They want to make their audience bigger, which means reaching beyond those who already know about this. They should try some new ways.

And if the people are too stupid to know what is good for them, maybe they can teach it in Khan Academy with which Microsoft has an existing relationship.

If the next Xbox could play any game on Steam, how would MS make any money??

You do realise that if you buy a game on Steam that isn't published by Microsoft or one of it's subsidiaries, Microsoft don't see a penny of that revenue right?

@Bond007uk: Maybe that is why MS is bulking up on studios and IPs, they will rely on producing content to make money.

It seems less guaranteed, but other game publishers who did not have their own hardware have been successful in the past. Publishers that don't have their own hardware do have their own services like EA Play. Capcom is doing well. Maybe Microsoft will be like that now, but with a service that has games beyond what they develop.

MS had problems getting into Japan and Europe and maybe now this way they can actually sell more than they used to on the console side.

It's still drawing in potential revenue across the board, Game Pass sales and MS game sales and there would likely be an incentive for MS to get some kickbacks just like they do for any game sales from MS games that are on steam.

One thing I'm wondering about this is when Valve and EGS would make any statement that they would like to have a store on the next Xbox, or acknowledge anything about the plans MS has about giving them a place on Xbox consoles and handhelds. Especially Epic who wants every platform to have their store on it.

It won't really matter becuase MS is clearly going to make the next Xbox basically a hybrid PC with a faster lower level Windows OS running it so you can basically run anything on it that you can with a standard Windows PC or at least anything like game stores and apps and such.

@xbox7204life: Yeah but I could picture Epic slamming the consoles that don't do that the way they did on iOS, and congratulating MS's intentions, and using all that in their talking points. I think the games media should ask Epic and Valve what they think about it!

The only logic here that you need to understand is revenue and profits. Steam and Epic aren't going to block a Windows run PC like console to not be able to download and play games from their store fronts. They want the revenue just like any company and it's investors.

Microsoft is on a roll, but don't forget that PlayStation still has a stronger brand value than Xbox. Not that Sony deserves it, though.

PS5 is doing horrible and Sony doesn’t seem to be making barely any games. Now focused on TV TV TV. And the games they do have are all multiplatform.
