WindowsCentral: Flight Sim, Halo MCC, Hellblade 2, Age of Mythology and Gears 1 on PS5 and maybe Switch 2

According to Mr. Hate, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, and Halo: The Master Chief Collection are both slated for the multiplatform treatment, with each game launching on PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2. I can corroborate independently with our own sources that all of the above does seem to be true. It seems that Microsoft isn't stopping there, though.

To that end, I've heard that also Hellblade 2, Age of Mythology, and potentially Gears of War 1 Ultimate Edition are all also slated for PlayStation 5 this year, although I'm unsure if that includes the Nintendo Switch 2.

The floodgates are continuing to open and, it looks like we're getting Halo and Gears on other platforms sooner than we thought.

Age of Mythology is fantastic, PS5 gamers should get on that

I guess the big news would be if this wasn't happening? Nice to have other options for those who haven't played them yet, but likely everyone has access to these games already.

Hopefully they will have a physical release for people who want those.

The only way I see that happening is if people don't like PC gaming, don't like Xbox, don't like Game Pass, don't like the cloud, and prefer to support a platform that people say isn't at the forefront of the way things are supposedly going for the future of gaming. The Switch 2 especially because they have the most egregious library of exclusive games.

Halo: MCC is a no brainer to get people up-to--date on the franchise.. i'd imagine it would sell really well.. the rumored Gears Collection would be a great multiplatform release if it's actually true..

Nintendo left the traditional console war even before Xbox.. they stated as much when they announced the Wii and solidified it with the Switch..

well, technically it's not in the same space.. Nintendo has created (and cornered) an entire market for themselves.. at least until Sony and Microsoft release their rumored handhelds next-gen..

and if that's your viewpoint, Xbox still "exists" with gaming devices as well.. they all just have distinctly different strategies for their gaming business in a post console war world.

Running many of the same games, at that. There’s 24 hours in a consumers day. That’s what the big three are fighting over. It doesn’t matter how they do it…

i just tell it like it is.. the console war ended and Xbox began the shift to a multiplatform strategy way back in 2016.. the Xbox brand on the whole has been doing better than ever as a result..

I also applaud PlayStation for going 3rd party on PC.. ultimately, now that the console wars are over, the only thing i "defend" are pro-consumer actions that benefit me; the consumer..

I have significant doubts, not even on the whole Microsoft wouldn't share their most signature first party games with their primary competitor angle, but porting the MCC to the PS5 would be a monumental task that would hamstring Halo Studios for years itself, and severely impact whatever new entry they're working on.

NateTheHate doesn't strike me as anyone with an insider angle on anything but someone who keeps close attention to the rumor mill then piggybacks on it to help build clout, then upping the ante by adding fabricated nonsense on top of existing rumors just for sensational attention garnering.

Halo isn’t the titan it used to be so it doesn’t surprise me at all. However, I do think it’s still a bit of a stretch since they stopped development of the MCC like last year but who knows. Maybe it’s just the single player.

I'm not sure Gears 1 would do well on PlayStation or Switch successor, it made its mark as a stepping stone, a work in progress and sold well because it was graphically state-of-the-art at the time with badass big dudes and War Hammer chainsaws.

If it was Gears 2 that would be very different imo, I think many overlook the overall upgrade in gameplay from GoW1 to GoW2. Even with all the Gears clones over the years Gears 2 remains a remakeable game, and frankly a fun time.

Halo is just the smart move. Halo 1, 2, and 3 are as great today as they've ever been. Timeless FPS games that any fan of the genre should check out.

Would be interesting.. But at the end of the day, when talking about how consumers only have 24 hours in a day, "active users" are the key metric..

Selling hardware (sometimes for a loss) doesn't mean much without active users.. That said, PlayStation and Nintendo have a healthy pool of active users.. Xbox currently has the most active users and that's why, despite being a distant 3rd in hardware sales, Xbox is a relatively close 2nd in gaming revenue..

This is due to their expanded reach beyond consoles in search of active users.. Something that PlayStation is also doing..
