Trump has done significant harm to US international standing without even starting his first term already.

This is exactly what I didn't want to happen and I can't understand why some Americans are so uneducated in global geopolitics. Biden repaired the damage last time but Trump is going too far now and we'll lose allies.

If Biden was so good why are we now involved in two proxy wars? Trump destroyed ISIS and took out two other bad actors.

@JimB: Biden reacted to two international conflicts not initiated by him.

Trump, before even stepping in to the white house, hinted at starting two military conflicts and an economical war with the aim of annexing territory.

If you can't tell the difference between the two, you are just deceiving yourself.

I have read your posts. You are not an idiot. You should easily be able to see the difference. If you don't, it's because you choose not to.

If it damages the little people "we are all in this together", if it damages the big £££, I doubt it.

@sargentd: it's obviously a big issue. To imply that they are open to military threat an ally country is a huge breach of trust. It massively devalues the US as an ally and portrays the country as a potential threat.

If you were not so emotionally committed to trump as to loose your ability for independent analysis, you would have realized this as well.

This is not hard to understand.

^ Cup's got the answer. The latest I've heard is about a discussion over EU "penalties" for algorithm abuse. I couldn't find details, but I guess the suggestion is financial redress after the fact, which will probably be interpreted, in practical terms, more as a calculable cost of election interference than a real deterrent. That might be seen by the public as a federal-level bribe, is the danger.

Outside of a suspension of business licence in the EU, meaningful solutions would need to be prescriptive, not just punitive.

It's also worth bearing in mind that algorithmic manipulation is only a part of the issue. A more difficult question is over the use of bots. I'm not sure there's a limit to the number of accounts a person can create. One sounds like a reasonable number to me. How we could then ensure those accounts remain entirely under the control of just that same one real human, whilst retaining privacy rights, isn't clear - especially in the age of AI. I think most of us are pretty naive in those matters. Maybe intelligence agencies would be able to provide some insights; I understand they're well aware "troll farms" exist in every country, to promote all kinds of positions.

Out of proportion? We'll lose our allies and trading partners and China will gain them and grow stronger.

1. This little Stunt of Trump, even if it was a joke, has still caused tremendous damage to US international standing.

2. Actions speak louder than words. You can assert "It was just a joke bro", but while you do that Trump Jr. did his little visit to Greenland, bribed homeless and vulnerable people to stand next to him, and Trump and the MAGA movement CONSTANTLY talk about annexing Canada, Panama and Greenland. Not just that, but there is no punchline, no build up or any other typical characteric of a joke. There is no reason NOT to assume that Trump is not entertaining the idea. With Trump's annexation rhetoric being yet another case of Schrödinger's Idiot.

Probably to work with Greenland for strategic economic/millitary moves.

Denmark isnt doing shit with Greenland, their prime minister seems open to talking to Trump.

Maybe we buy it from Denmark 🇩🇰 💰

Truman made an offer to buy Greenland after WW2.

not that crazy of an idea.

But no I don't see Trump taking Greenland by millitary force lol

@LJS9502_basic: what about it? I already know all this.. your link is even just talking about the video I just shared.. lol

They could be a territory not a state, like Puerto Rico. Or...

They could be independent, but being how small they would need some kind of strategic alliance for economic and defense support, maybe USA can do that for them, while not aquring them as a US territory we could have a strategic economic alliance where both places benefit and Greenland can gain it's independence from Denmark.

I scratch your back you scratch ours.

It's not that far fetched

I don’t know how anyone can take Trump seriously in manners of world affairs, yet the world is necessitated, by virtue of his station, to wager these statements far past the seriousness of the one postulating them.

Listening to his ramblings about the Panama, Canal and Greenland, Trump is an unparalleled idiot. Observing him with any degree of astuteness should clearly indicate to people that he’s doing nothing but brain farting whatever new idea he has seen, suggested by Fox News or whatever conspiracy theory website he frequents, that seems to catch his fancy that particular day. Does anyone actually believe that he’s taking into consideration any geopolitical or broader calculations here, and that his determinations are borne of something more profound than his pathological narcissism, wishful thinking, and delusions? Does he have even the slightest conceptualization of what he speaks? People are getting so wound up about something that was an off-the-cuff brain fart and that Trump has probably already forgotten about.

Even if Trump is not going to do these things, I don’t understand how people are not extremely unsettled simply by the manner in which he operates, and believe this is a prudent manner of governance and leadership. Every time he comes out and spews these absurdities, I shudder to think of what would happen to this country and the world should something like 9/11 happen on his watch, where this thinking will no longer be just humorous musings of an imbecile that will soon be forgotten and that we have the luxury of chuckling and rolling our eyes at, but that will have severe and direct ramifications on everyone’s life.

So would Greenland be the first US territory with universal healthcare and all that other good stuff? I mean, it's under a Danish social model, right?

US already has military presence in Greenland. So I guess economic reasons would be why they want to control.

Or Putin has said it is important to US...

However on his way out the door he is doing as much damage to the country he can with his new agency rules and regulations. January 20th can not come soon enough to get the democary destroyers out of office. Chuck Schumer and a handfull of Democtat senators held a news breifing on the steps of the capitos stating how they were goinf to fight for the people now thatTrump will become president. Where the hell were they the last four years when this administration screrwed ove the American people they werew crikets nothing from them. The Democrats don't ever again deserve to be in power again aftewr the llast four years.

This is ridiculous Jim. No one is afraid of Trump. In fact, Putin laughed in his face when Trump suggested the war in Ukraine should end, Russia is posting nudes of Melania on their evening news, and Trump was straight out told by Russian officials he owes Putin for putting him in power. But sure, it's all Biden's fault.

Trump tried to end democracy. Saying otherwise is propaganda, brainwashing, mis/disinformation.

@JimB: this is self delusion.

If you want to see how powerful Russians perceive trump to be, check his progress on the peace negations.

Check if he achieves anything at all.

Check how much Russia yield, in terms of territory, in terms of the independence of the Ukrainian government, in terms of sanctions and in terms of reconstruction penalities.

Then you will see if he is perceived to be as powerful and feared as you seem to think.

@JimB: Why would Russia be afraid of Trump?

Didn't you guys say he's just a peaceful businessman who is going to avoid dragging the US into any wars? If so, then Putin and Xi are going to view him as a total pushover.
